Their annual campaign kicked off with dynamic presentations led by United Way staff, setting the tone for the season of giving. Throughout the year, Woodward generates opportunities for staff to participate in supporting local agencies throughout the community. Employees can enjoy lunch, play games, and immerse themselves in fun activities- all contributing to the betterment of Ottawa County. Workplace involvement thrives under the guidance of supportive leadership, as Woodward executives also attend many of these events.

Woodward sets the bar high by making a generous corporate pledge on top of employee contributions. Their dedication to these best practices is reflected in their fundraising efforts, having raised over $19,000 this year! This is a testament to the effectiveness of their approach in fostering employee engagement.

By embracing these strategies, Woodward not only strengthens their bond with the community, but also creates a strong workplace where giving back is embedded in every aspect of their operations.

Union Bank, a longtime supporter of Barry County United Way, made a significant move in the summer of 2022, relocating their headquarters from Lake Odessa to Grand Rapids. With this transition, they connected with Heart of West Michigan United Way, proudly becoming "Newly United."

In their first year with us, Union Bank pledged over $8,000 to five local United Ways across their branch locations and employee communities. Of this generous pledge, over $3,000 was channeled directly to Kent County and HWMUW, making a substantial impact on local initiatives.

Union Bank’s dedication went beyond financial contributions. They were active participants in our Stuff the Bus campaign, serving as a public drop-off site at numerous bank locations. This involvement helped gather essential school supplies, ensuring that local schools and students received the support they needed to start the year strong.

These efforts have made a tangible difference in our community, showcasing the power of teamwork and commitment. We’re thrilled to partner with Union Bank, and this first year of collaboration has set a strong foundation for the future!

This year marked an upward trend in dollars raised and hours volunteered for Steelcase. On our Day of Caring, more of their employees got involved than ever before. Their employees’ enthusiasm to spend their day working at nonprofits in the area emphasize their dedication to public service.

Steelcase also hosted their first annual Par for the Cause golf outing, which was a tremendous success. This fun and meaningful day pushed Steelcase over their annual campaign fundraising goal, ensuring more people in Kent County can get the assistance they need. This event, along with their contributions to our Stuff the Bus and Stuff the Sled campaigns, showed their willingness to take action in pursuit of helping the community.

Steelcase embodies what it means to be an engaged and supportive corporate partner. Their continued involvement with our initiatives demonstrates their eagerness to foster long-term change in West Michigan. We are proud to recognize Steelcase this year for their incredible efforts.

Shape Corp’s continued contribution represents the true essence of partnership.

Employees also had the opportunity to participate in an impact tour, which involved visiting some of our key partner agencies. Their contributions to our Stuff the Bus and Stuff the Sled campaigns were especially impactful, providing essential school supplies and holiday gift bags to local children. During Operation United, the Berger team took on the role of ambassadors, visiting veterans' homes to express gratitude for their service. These heartfelt visits allowed them to engage in meaningful conversations about military experiences, highlighting the importance of community collaboration and recognition.

Berger Chevrolet's support continued with their Bring the Basics events, where employees enjoyed lively luncheons while donating much needed items to local nonprofits. Berger also proudly sponsors Emerging Leaders United, one of our key affinity groups. This sponsorship allows budding young professionals to begin their philanthropic journey.

Berger’s ongoing patronage and proactive engagement are a testament to their goal of fostering a strong, thriving community. Aside from volunteering countless hours throughout the year, Berger Chevrolet’s leadership and employee contributions reached an exceptional $30,000. Their energetic involvement is making a lasting difference in West Michigan, building a better community for us all.
