Through Student United Way, Heart of West Michigan United Way offers students the opportunity to become community leaders and make a tangible difference. Piloted in the 2023-2024 school year and sponsored by Members First Credit Union, our program was initially launched with enthusiastic participation from NHA High School Grand River Prep. This is an affinity group dedicated to introducing students to the world of philanthropy, empowering them to drive change and build stronger communities.
Student United Way operates during the academic school year, engaging students in meaningful activities that foster a deep understanding of philanthropy. Our program is designed to inspire and equip the next generation of leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to create lasting impact as they start their philanthropic journeys.

Student United Way is a group dedicated to empowering the youth in our community and showing that no matter your age, you have a seat at the table to make a difference and drive change.
Led by students and guided by school ambassadors, students engage in volunteer events, school-wide fundraisers, and field trips that not only deepen their understanding of philanthropy but also expose them to the vast career opportunities available in the nonprofit sector. These hands-on experiences provide valuable insights into the diverse roles and functions within nonprofit organizations, inspiring students to explore potential career paths and make informed decisions about their future.
