When you don’t know where to turn for help, Heart of West Michigan United Way’s 2-1-1 is the answer.
In a crisis, in a disaster, and in a pandemic, 2-1-1 is here to assist every person in our community find food, pay for housing and bills, and connect to other essential services. HWMUW’s free service, powered by real people, covers 15 counties and provides 24/7 assistance. That means from the first hello, someone in crisis is reaching a trained specialist who can provide a connection to the resources they need. In 2020, our 2-1-1 team answered 75,927 calls for help—that’s more than 1,400 each week!

In addition to basic needs, HWMUW’s 2-1-1 has been vital in fielding COVID vaccine calls across the state. Since January, our team has answered 17,578 calls, provided important updates, and registered Michiganders for the vaccine. For seniors without a computer or internet access, the ability to speak with a person on the phone has made all the difference in accessing information on how to receive the vaccine.
