STUFF THE SLED 2021 RECAP

The sled is finally full! As of last week, we officially completed our 2021 Stuff the Sled collection drive.

Our annual drive is an opportunity to bring holiday cheer to young children enrolled in programs at Head Start for Kent County. These students, ages five and younger, come from local low-income families who don’t have the means to purchase gifts.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we ensured every Head Start student, as well as eight pregnant mothers, received a holiday gift. Each child received an age-appropriate toy to aid their development, a board game to play with their family, a book to jumpstart their imagination, and a hat and glove set to keep them safe and warm. In addition to local students, we were also able to donate extra toys and games to our partner organization, Community Rebuilders, for their clients to receive as gifts this season.

Despite national shipping delays, we’re happy to report that all the toys arrived on time. And with the help of 82 volunteers, we were able to sort, pack, and deliver gifts to Head Start locations across our community before students left for their winter break. Special shoutout to Behler-Young for letting us use their warehouse to pack and store all the gifts!
