VOLUNTEERS ARE SUPER

In honor of National Volunteer Week (April 17–23), we’d like to recognize our volunteers and celebrate their impact in West Michigan!

Through the past two years of navigating uncertainty and constant changes, our volunteers have stayed persistent and accountable. As the true superheroes of our community, they bring joy to children, resources to organizations, and relief to families and individuals in need.

We’re truly grateful to our volunteers’ dedication as they continue to give their time and talent. Volunteers are the heart of Heart of West Michigan United Way and help make a thriving community for all possible.

“When each of us, in our own way, answers the call to make a difference, we make progress in solving our most persistent problems and create stronger communities and a more just society.”

UNITED WAY AFFINITY GROUPS

As part of their commitment to the community, our affinity group members not only give philanthropically, but also give their time and talent to the populations local nonprofits serve. From contributing to collection drives to mentoring the next generation, we thank those who dedicate themselves to fighting poverty and making West Michigan a better place for everyone.

Help shape the future by joining one of our affinity groups.

KENT COUNTY TAX CREDIT COALITION (KCTCC)

Every year, KCTCC volunteers file free federal, state, and local tax returns for working individuals and families who can’t afford tax prep services. Clients receive all tax credits they qualify for and use their refunds for necessities such as food and clothing, home and car repairs, or medical treatment. Since 2002, KCTCC has made a world of difference to those in need by bringing more than $106 million in tax refunds and credits to more than 107,000 taxpayers in Kent County.

The 2021 tax deadline has passed, but let us know if you’d like to volunteer next tax season.

The most powerful force in the world is the individual who has realized their power to do good. We hope you’re inspired to join the extraordinary volunteers who make a difference by serving our community. Stay up to date with our Volunteer Center for even more ways to get involved.

Thank you to all volunteer superheroes in West Michigan who tackle our area’s most pressing issues and transform our collective future for the better.
