BRING THE BASICS 2022 RECAP

Helping our community stay healthy

This year’s Bring the Basics drive was an incredible success—all thanks to the support from our community!

Bring the Basics, United Way’s annual collection drive, provides personal hygiene items and household cleaning products to Kent County residents who struggle to afford everyday health essentials. This includes things like toothpaste, soap, and laundry detergent that assistance programs don’t cover.

Together, we collected more than 12,000 items

from our online store, virtual team drives, and in-person donations throughout the month of March.

We would like to thank Macatawa Bank for serving as our public drop-off site for donations and collecting nearly 3,000 items from our community.

Combined with the cash donations we received, you helped us reach our goal to support more than 30,000 Kent County residents. This includes ALICE households, under-housed individuals, refugees, youth, and more.

During our Sort-A-Social event, 13 Young Leaders Society volunteers helped sort Bring the Basics donations and prepare them for delivery to local nonprofits. The following agencies will distribute items to those who need them most:

Thank you to the companies and organizations that participated in the drive, our generous donors and volunteers, partner agencies that support our community’s health, and everyone else who made it possible for our neighbors in need to live their best and healthiest lives. We couldn’t have done it without you!
